Wipe off any salt creep in and around your aquarium and its various pieces. Salt creep is definitely the crusty residue that accumulates on non-submerged surfaces subjected to saltwater. Use a damp rag and more than enough force to get rid of the residue.To disinfect an aquatic plant with out killing it, soak it in potassium permanganate for 10 min
